Jeff Neuman-Lee / President
I'm Jeff Neuman-Lee, a retired minister. I work on issues around sustainability and resilience in the face of our changed and changing climate. I live on the 2300 block of Franklin. Contact me using the email link below - I’m always glad to sit and chat with you!

Danny Havelick / Vice President
My name is Danny Havelick, I'm the Vice President of the board. I've been in love with Whittier since about 30 seconds after moving there in 2020. My wife Ali and I live on the 3000 block of Humboldt, and enjoy the many great local businesses and the amazing history. You can see our dog Martha perched in the window or being walked through Whittier's numerous parks. I joined the WNA board in 2022 looking to give back to the neighborhood, and I've enjoyed helping organize the community events we all love.

Abigail Olker / Treasurer
Abby Olker has joined the WNA board as the Treasurer. Abby moved to the Denver area in March of 2020, but was very excited to move to the Whittier neighborhood in summer 2023 with her husband and two kitties. Since then, Abby has enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood by going on walks and visiting local restaurants. In her free time, Abby likes going on runs through City Park, baking, knitting, and reading.

Scott Holder / Secretary
I have an MA in Geography from CU-Boulder and have lived off and on in the area since 1975, finally returning in 2018 after a 35-year absence. My board interest is in historic preservation, having restored several such buildings, some dating to the 1840s. I am an ultra-marathoner who you can catch running around City Park at 4am most weekdays. I live on the 2300 block of Williams and when the weather cooperates, you’ll find me on the front porch so stop by and chat.

Gerald Hamel / Fundraising
I do no thing, some thing, never everything. No thing pays, some thing pays, everything pays. I make up words, sometimes sentences. I listen to learn to speak with love.

Aurora Marsh / Family
Aurora moved with her family (husband, son, and husky) to Whittier in 2024 and is excited to serve on the WNA Board. She has lived in Colorado since 2016 and is happy to report it's her favorite C-state, having spent significant time in both Connecticut and California. She is an avid bike commuter, fan of pedestrian-friendly spaces, amateur gardener, and energy/environmental lawyer by day. If you have a young family or have ideas on how to better engage with families in the neighborhood, please reach out!

Michael Starble / Zoning
Hi friends. I’m Michael, a retired marketing and sales professional. My wife, Elisa, and I moved our family to Colorado in 1992. Since that time, we have lived in Evergreen plus several Denver metro neighborhoods. In May 2025, we moved to the 2700 block of Gaylord here in the Whittier neighborhood, and have been amazed by the warmth and energy of our neighbors. I enjoy hiking, camping throughout the West, cycling, walking through City Park, and frequenting the many cafes and restaurants in the community. I’m excited to contribute to the WNA and hope to meet you in person.

Forrest Hanson
Hi neighbors, I'm Forrest Hanson. After growing up in the Denver metro then living out-of-state for twenty years, I came home in July 2020 looking for a welcoming, walkable, and historic neighborhood near downtown. I found those things in Whittier and am proud to live on Race Street's 2900 block with my wife, Jenny, and our pets, Bernie (a dog) and Buddy (a cat). I joined this board to build community and increase civic engagement, so please reach out if you'd like to discuss either!
-

Matt Broida / Safety
I’m Matt Broida, a resident of the Whittier neighborhood for the past several years. A Midwest transplant, I studied at The Ohio State University and Northwestern University. I live in Whittier with my wife, Sara, our daughter, Reagan, and our two miniature schnauzers, Kiki and Cappie. In our spare time, we enjoy all the civic treasures Denver has to offer and getting into the mountains whenever we can.
I’m focused on helping make Whittier one of the safest neighborhoods in Denver by working with the Board to build community, strengthen car and pedestrian safety, and ensure negligent landlords are held accountable.
Please feel free to contact me using the email link below — I’m always happy to work together to help keep Whittier safe and welcoming.

Rae Koch / Communications
Rae is originally from Houston, Texas, but has lived in Denver since 2018. After bouncing around various apartments in many of Denver's neighborhoods, she moved in with her longtime-Whittier-resident husband in 2023 to a home on High Street. With her professional background in theatre and marketing, she's excited to bring her talents to benefit the fabulous neighborhood she calls home!

Kerry Whitford / Neighborhood Relations
Hello Whittier! I've called Colorado home since studying Environmental Conservation at CU Boulder in 1987. For the past 23 years, my family and I—including our two college-age daughters and our doodle, Eva—have loved living on 26th and Gaylord in Whittier, drawn by its history and vibrant, diverse community. After 34 years in federal service as a strategic leader, I’m excited to join the board and give back to the neighborhood that’s given us so much, while building even stronger connections with both longtime and new neighbors.
