About Us

Founded in 1981, the Whittier Neighborhood Association is a Registered Neighborhood Organization. We engage the community, put on events, and keep our neighbors informed on issues that impact them.

Board of Directors

  • Jeff Neuman-Lee / President

I'm Jeff Neuman-Lee, a retired minister. I work on issues around sustainability and resilience in the face of our changed and changing climate. I live on the 2300 block of Franklin. Contact me using the email link below - I’m always glad to sit and chat with you!

  • Danny Havelick / Vice President

My name is Danny Havelick, I'm the Vice President of the board. I've been in love with Whittier since about 30 seconds after moving there in 2020. My wife Ali and I live on the 3000 block of Humboldt, and enjoy the many great local businesses and the amazing history. You can see our dog Martha perched in the window or being walked through Whittier's numerous parks. I joined the WNA board in 2022 looking to give back to the neighborhood, and I've enjoyed helping organize the community events we all love.

  • Jeanne Paradeis / Treasurer

I'm Jeanne Paradeis, a retired financial administrator from CU Denver and Anschutz campuses. I live on the 3100 block of York. I enjoy being active outside and connecting people to resources and information.

  • Scott Holder / Secretary

I have an MA in Geography from CU-Boulder and have lived off and on in the area since 1975, finally returning in 2018 after a 35-year absence. My board interest is in historic preservation, having restored several such buildings, some dating to the 1840s. I am an ultra-marathoner who you can catch running around City Park at 4am most weekdays. I live on the 2300 block of Williams and when the weather cooperates, you’ll find me on the front porch so stop by and chat.

  • Karlyn Russell / Communications

I'm Karlyn Russell (she/her) and I handle Whittier's communications, including the neighborhood Spotlight, text messages, emails, and Instagram page. I've been in Denver since 2107 and my husband and I have lived on the 2500 block of Humboldt St. since 2020. I'm currently a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning student at CU Denver and I'm passionate about nurturing our vibrant community! Feel free to reach out to me if you want to get involved.

  • Marcus Owens / Safety

Hello, I am a Whittier resident and all around concerned citizen.

I have been involved in neighborhood issues that relate to zoning, noise, and liquor licensing.

I think we have to potential to make Whittier one of the best neighborhoods in Denver if we stick up for ourselves.

    Thanks.

  • Gerald Hamel / Fundraising

I do no thing, some thing, never everything. No thing pays, some thing pays, everything pays. I make up words, sometimes sentences. I listen to learn to speak with love.

  • Natasha Garfield / Education

Hi neighbors, I’m Natasha Garfield (she/her). I work for an education nonprofit partnering with DPS graduates on their pathways to college and career. I’m a Boulder native and moved with my family to Whittier from Lowry in 2022 to be part of a more diverse, eclectic, and walkable neighborhood. You’ll find me at Ford-Warren Library or on long walks with my little dog, Dizzy. Looking forward to meeting you!

  • Anthony Lincoln / Outreach

Hello Whittier! I’m Anthony, a small business owner and proud Whittier resident for a couple of years. My partner, Gwynneth, and I live on the 2300 block of Lafayette St. You’ll see us walking the dogs, admiring Whittier’s rich historical blocks, beautiful dedication parks along 30th St, and dropping in on the many cool neighborhood events throughout the year. Whittier is the best neighborhood in all of Denver, if not the region. I look forward to meeting you!
